Tips:
- Always start with a prayer and end with pondering
- You do not always have to read the scriptures cover to cover. Try topical searches by going to the Bible dictionary, Topical guide and Index to find scriptures on something you want to study.
- Try a color coding system. Any time you come across a scripture, for example: on Jesus, color it purple: the color of royalty.
- Start a scripture journal to write down your prompting and impressions of what you read
- LASTLY, Every once in a while read a conference talk instead- it is modern scripture (Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. AND D&C 1: 38 ... Whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same. )
