Holy Week Day 7

Today was the Jewish Sabbath

Where the story is found: Matt 27:62-66; Luke 23:56

Prophecy fulfilled: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy." (John 16:20)

Discussion:

1. Has the Sabbath always been observed?

2. What was the difference between the Jewish Sabbath and ours?

ANSWER for Day 6's Discussion:

Jerusalem: The veil of the temple was torn, Graves were opened & the first resurrection and visited people, Earthquakes, Darkness, Angels announces his resurrection, He appears to Mary Magdalene, then to others—He sends the apostles to preach, promises that signs shall follow faith—He ascends into heaven.

Nephites: Tempests, earthquakes, fires, whirlwinds, and physical upheavals attest the crucifixion of Christ—Many people are destroyed—Darkness covers the land for three days—silence for many hours. Christ appears and proclaims his atonement—The people feel the wound marks in his hands and feet and side—They cry Hosanna. He calls the Twelve

Apostolic thought/song:

CHALLENGE: Create a picture, write a song or story, putting you in Jesus' time during the trial, crucifixion and death of Jesus. How do you feel? What are you thinking?
